Overview

American Eagle, a division of VETS, Inc., is looking to add an HVAC Master technician with 10+ years of HVAC experience and a Master HVAC license to our growing team.  This is a full time, permanent position, with full benefits, based out of Clarksville, VA.  The successful Master technician will service Mecklenburg and Halifax counties in southern Virginia, and other surrounding counties as needed.



Responsibilities

The Master HVAC technician must have knowledge of HVAC systems, basic electricity, electrical and control systems, and the ability to read and understand blueprints, specifications, and schematics.

 

The Master HVAC technician will be responsible for supervising and limited installation of all facets of new and old HVAC installations. servicing.  

  • Must have Master HVAC license 
  • Must have EPA Universal license
  • Repair or replace any heating, air conditioning, or refrigeration equipment or complete systems.
  • Test electrical circuits and components for continuity, using electrical test equipment.
  • Test pipe or tubing joints and connections for leaks, using a pressure gauge or soap-and-water solution.
  • Inspect and test systems to verify compliance with plans and specifications and to detect and locate malfunctions.
  • Join pipes or tubing to the equipment and to the fuel, water, or refrigerant source in order to form a complete circuit.
  • Lay out and connect electrical wiring between the controls and equipment according to the wiring diagram, using an electrician’s hand tools.
  • Install, connect, and adjust thermostats, humidistats, and timers, using hand tools.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Master HVAC license
  • EPA Universal license
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training in HVAC installation 
  • Knowledge of HVAC codes and proper application; knowledge of proper electrical and HVAC safety.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems and component.
  • Must be able to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, show attention to detail, and demonstrate problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with local and national HVAC codes and regulations.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment and materials (up to 50 lbs), climb ladders, and work in tight spaces as required.
  • Comply with all applicable standards, policies, and procedures, including safety procedures and the maintenance of a clean work area.
  • Ability to explain technical information to non-technical customers.
  • OSHA or NATE Certified a PLUS
  • Reliable, Detail-Oriented and Organized

Physical Demands:

  • This role requires work in varying temperatures, potential exposure to moderate/high noise levels, and use of heavy machinery, hand and power tools.  Ability to meet physical demands of the job to include attics, crawl spaces, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
