  • Overview

    VETS Inc is hiring for a Systems Administrator II onsite at Scott AFB to support one of our Government Contracts.

    Responsibilities

    This position will be responsible  for performing complex systems administrations tasks serving both SDDC and the United States Transportation Command.   Primarily focusing on VMware and Windows Server related technologies.  Installs, maintains, and reviews system specifications, designs, and solutions.  Assists in developing remote access standards and policies.  Works as part of a project team in the integration of system engineering modifications or stand- alone solutions to engineering support requirements. 

    Qualifications

    Required Skills:

    • 4 years’ experience that includes 3 years of Windows Server system administration experience, such as: Windows Server 2008R2/2012R2 administration and troubleshooting
    • Optimizes system operations and resource utilization and performs system capacity analysis and planning
    • Provides assistance to users in accessing and using business/computer systems
    • Monitors and supports computer processing
    • Proven Tier 2/3 customer support
    • Working knowledge of server virtualization technologies
    • Comprehension of common network concepts: VLAN, Switching, OSI layers
    • Capable of diagnosing system hardware issues
    • Familiar with high availability/clustering concepts and engineering
    • Familiar with fundamental networking/distributed computing environments and concepts
    • Strong inter-personal and communication skills: capable of training users in complex topics, making presentations to internal groups
    • Ability to perform security audits and remediate vulnerabilities to protect the systems against intrusion
    • Independent problem solving; self-directed, self-starting
    • Coordinates input, output, and file media
    • Distributes output and controls computer operation
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, Social Science, or other related analytical, scientific, or technical disciplines; 72 months of specialized experience may be substituted for four (4) year college degree
    • Meet DoD 8570 requirement
    • Active Secret Clearance

    Desired Skills:

    • VMware Virtual Machine administration
    • Windows scripting (inc. Powershell)
    • VMware scripting (Power-CLI & others)
    • RSA experience
    • Netapp / Quantum storage technologies
    • Active directory, DHCP, and DNS
    • System capacity analysis and planning
    • Performance tuning of Horizon View ESXi & vCenter
    • Experience with large datacenter operations to include power management, rack organization, networking, and storage
    • Netapp/Quantum/Other storage experience
    • Working knowledge of Army information assurance methods and practices
    • Electronic file transfer experience
    • Systems engineering experience
    • Experience with SQL VERITAS Clustering
    • Enterprise backup experience
    • Familiarity with Solaris Operating System
    • Enterprise management software experience, such as Solarwinds
    • Ability to lift up to75lbs
