    VETS. Inc., is looking for an experienced Mid-Level Systems Engineer to join our growing team at Scott AFB


    This position will place the individual in the midst of streamlining government spending while increasing functionality and capabilities of the US Military through the use of leading technology methods and techniques.   The challenge of migrating existing independent programs of record into the common computing enclave will result in millions of dollars in savings and greater efficiencies to the forces defending our country.



    • DoD 8570.01-M, IAT-II, like Security+ CE (or equivalent).
    • Computing Environment (CE) certification.  Examples include Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) or VMWare
    • Possesses 4 years’ experience that includes 2 years in a specialized area. Specialized experience includes:  understanding of network topologies and configurations, , TCP/IP, routers, and experience with the logical and physical functional, operational, and technical architecture of large and complex information systems,.
    • Evaluates and recommends COTS applications that can be acquired to provide interoperable, portable, and scalable information technology solutions
    • Evaluate requirements and recommend hardware procurement
    • Performs analysis and validation of reusable software/hardware components to ensure the integration of these components into interoperable information management designs.
    • Optimizes system operations and resource utilization and performs system capacity analysis and planning
    • Ability to perform security audits and remediate vulnerabilities to protect the systems against intrusion.
    • Coordinates input, output, and file media
    • Proven Tier 2/3 customer support
    • Capable of diagnosing system hardware issues
    • Distributes output and controls computer operation.
    • Comprehension of common network concepts: VLAN, Switching, OSI layers
    • Working knowledge of server virtualization technologies
    • Familiar with high availability/clustering concepts and engineering
    • Familiar with fundamental networking/distributed computing environments and concepts.
    • Strong inter-personal and communication skills: capable of training users in complex topics, making presentations to internal groups.
    • Independent problem solving; self-directed, self-starting.
    • Ability to lift up to75lbs


    • System capacity analysis and planning
    • Experience with large datacenter operations to include power management, rack organization, networking, and storage
    • Electronic file transfer experience
    • Storage experience NAS/SAN (such as NetApp or Quantum )
    • Active directory, DHCP, and DNS
    • RSA experience
    • VMware Virtual Machine administration
    • Windows scripting (inc. Powershell)
    • VMware scripting (Power-CLI & others)
    • Experience with Clustering software, such as SQL VERITAS Clustering or Microsoft
    • Enterprise backup experience such VEEAM or Commvault
    • Familiarity with Solaris Operating System
    • Enterprise management software experience, such as Solarwinds
    • Performance tuning of Horizon View, ESXi, & vCenter
    • Working knowledge of Army information assurance methods and practices
    • Systems engineering experience
