    Staffing Pros a Division of VETS Inc is hiring for a Software Test Engineer for one of our contracts in Warren, Michigan

     

    Responsibilities

    This position is for the software test team under TARDEC Software Engineering Center (SEC), which supports various TARDEC programs. Candidate serves as Software Test Engineer responsible for providing software engineering and lifecycle management services in support of embedded software products for military applications.  As a member of the software test team, duties include test support of the systems that are managed by TARDEC.

    Candidate will be responsible for:

    • Contributing to the development of program's test strategy, approach, process, planning, schedule, and resource requirements. In addition, managing the implementation of an evaluation methodology and framework for product/system under test.
    • Developing of test materials/data for technical and progress reviews, to include risk assessment. In addition, the identification and coordination of SEC personnel.
    • Becoming familiar with the software under test and any other related software
    • Understanding the master test plan and/ or the project plan
    • Developing/updating formal test plans and test cases based on the review and analysis of requirements, use cases, and other design documents
    • Ensure requirements traceability matrices (RTM) trace from/to test cases and requirements
    • Work closely with development engineers, QA engineers, and other stakeholders who support the verification/validation testing
    • Procuring test data required for testing
    • Setting up required test beds (hardware, software and network)
    • Creating or assist in creating test automation
    • Testing of software releases by executing assigned tests (manual and/ or automated)
    • Reporting test results and defects to the stakeholders
    • Creating test logs
    • Troubleshooting faults or anomalies with the hardware, software, and test procedures
    • Expected to travel occasionally to various locations in support of related meetings and test events as testing, site assessments, and product/process audits and acceptance.
    • Understanding of CMMI process areas and process requirements related to testing

    Qualifications

    • Must be a US Citizen
    • Must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering field or computer science with course work related to software engineering/development for embedded electronic systems (must have been completed in a U.S. college, university, or other educational institution that has been accredited by one of the accrediting agencies or associations recognized by the Secretary, U.S. Department of Education.)
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance
    • Must have strong writing skills to generate scopes of tests, procedures, schedules, and to assist in generating technical documentation in support of various TARDEC programs
    • Must have the ability to work in a collaborative environment
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow through on tasks
    • Strong understanding of Microsoft Office applications
    • Knowledge of different test methodologies, tools, and practices
    • Knowledge of software automation to include scripting, debugging, execution, and analysis
    • Understanding of object oriented and component based product development

     

    Desired Competencies:

    • Demonstrated experience with languages: C/C++, Windows and Linux shell scripts
    • Working knowledge of embedded software systems
    • Ability to test and manage vehicle electronic software solutions to provide and sustain operational capabilities within military ground systems and vehicles.
    • Knowledge and experiences with the engineering and integration of military ground vehicle electronics systems and subsystems.
    • Knowledge of and ability to apply ISO/IEC 12207 standards for software and systems engineering and industry best practices associated with SEI Capability Maturity Model Integrated (CMMI) level 3 and above and Lean/6-Sigma principles to software process engineering, management and control.
