    VETS Inc. is hiring for a Senior Communications Consultant to support one of our Government contracts in Washington, DC.

     

    *This position is contingent upon award.

    Responsibilities

     

    Senior Communications Consultant performs the following support and advisory services:

    • Identifies communication needs.
    • Provides and coordinates consultative services to program staff regarding public information and communications strategies for agency initiatives, marketing campaigns, stakeholder communications and outreach, seminars, conferences and other communications-driven initiatives.
    • May provide project management and execution of these strategies through the oversight or development of communications strategies, creative direction and written content.
    • Develops and implements communications plans and programs such as information campaigns, brochures, and newsletters in support of above strategies.
    • Provides technical assistance as needed.
    • Engages with programs on public awareness, outreach or marketing campaigns to help provide consistent messaging.
    • May lead public awareness, outreach or marketing initiatives.
    • Prepares, advises, or oversees the writing, development and release of communications products including articles, special features, PowerPoint presentations, advertising copy, announcements, videos, newsletters, and reports. Ensures they are edited, distributed and posted.
    • Works with SBA programs to coordinate messaging on initiatives related to education and SBA programs promotion.
    • Coordinates identified communication opportunities with program leads to develop and execute communication plans as needed.
    • Collaborates and supports External Affairs functions and activities, including: Media Relations, Public Affairs, and Stakeholder Relations.
    • Provides support for other Communication Unit functions and activities such as online/interactive/social/emerging media communications, marketing research, social marketing and internal communications.
    • Assist in responding to various consumer questions and requests for information from the public and may assist staff in developing responses to media inquiries.
    • Performs other duties as assigned. Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and serving in a supporting role to meet the agency’s obligations for disaster response and recovery or continuity of operations activation.

    Qualifications

     

    • Extensive experience in
      • planning, developing and implementing communication strategies and programs aimed at external audiences;
      • researching, writing, editing and producing in a wide variety of formats;
      • strategic communication planning;
      • the development of measurement strategies to assess the outcome of communication plans;
      • project management in managing multiple and competing priorities;
      • ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships;
      • Strong oral and written communication skills.
    • A bachelor’s degree or higher in marketing, communications, public relations or related field
